Second Dr. Appt

We had our second doctor appointment today which included our second sonogram. This sonogram seemed a lot more "real" than the last one; Baby Hyatt actually looked like a baby! Benton and I could decipher the body parts on our own this time, which was different from the first one :) The baby is measuring 2 inches and the heartbeat was a strong 150 bpm. We have a ton of pictures this time...the profile, the head, the baby waving...I'll have to try to scan some of them in this weekend. It is so crazy to me that the baby is only 2 inches, so imagine how little the hand must be, and you can see each individual finger in the sono pic. No news on the sex yet, the sonographer said they all look like little boys at this stage. She also said we have a "very good baby" because it was in the exact position she needed to measure for the NT screening test. We're just hoping to continue to hear those words for the next few years!!

4/26 Baptism

Benton was baptized on Sunday! It was a wonderful weekend filled with family fun time!

Benton's parents, Jim and Faye, flew into Dallas on Saturday morning. We picked them up from Love and went to eat at Who's Who Burger. After lunch, we hit a couple of stores and wandered thru the Dallas Arboretum for the afternoon. Then my parents and Betsy came over for a low-key dinner to finish the day.

Sunday morning, we all (Jim, Faye, Betsy, mom, dad, and Amy) went to church to see Benton get baptized then celebrated at La Duni for brunch. I think our waiter may have partied too hard on Saturday night, but the food was really good. I am still not feeling very well, so I took a nap after brunch while Benton and his parents did a little shopping. When they got back, we went to see State of Play. It was a pretty good movie, but really long - we went to the 4:20 and didn't get out until 6:40.

Jim and Faye left this morning at the crack of dawn. It is always so good and much fun to spend time with them!

9 Week Photo

Benton took the first of many belly shots at 9 weeks. Pardon my face/hair; I had been awake for about 2 minutes.

Easter Weekend in Destin

I'm a little behind on this post, but at least we did take a couple of pictures. We went to Destin for the first time this year for Easter weekend. It was a little bit painful getting there because we had plane mechanical issues (so typical for Benton and I), but we did finally get there Friday night. We spent Saturday laying around on the beach and the weather was PERFECT! Saturday night, we went to eat at a fabulous restaurant called Commander's Palace.

I started to not feel very good on Saturday night and unfortunately just felt worse on Sunday, so I didn't even get out to enjoy the second day of nice weather. Everyone else did though. We always have a good time in Destin and we were definitely not ready to come home on Monday.

Old Timers Weekend - Part Deaux

In totally random order because I don't have the patience to get it right... Walker, TJ, and Blakely - crashed in the tent at the end of the night.

It was a crazy, busy weekend, but we had a great time!

Old Timers Weekend

Benton, my parents, and I headed out west to New Mexico for the weekend. Benton's dad, Jim, was the president of the Old Timers this year which means it was a weekend of honoring him. Unfortunately (but so typical for Benton and I), our flight was delayed on Friday, so we got to El Paso about an hour and a half after we were supposed to. As soon as we landed, we hurried to pick up our bags and rental car as quickly as possible and headed to meet Jim, Faye, Seth, Candace, and Blakely at La Posta in Las Cruces. We had not met Blakely yet, so we were excited to meet her, and we (or maybe I) was super nervous to tell our parents they are going to be grandparents.

We didn't waste much time. As soon as we got there, gave our hugs, and sat down, I handed our moms matching gifts (picture frames that said "I'm an Angel because my Grandparents Said So" with our sonogram picture inside) and told them it was an early Mother's Day present. They unwrapped them together, and going with the theme, seemed a bit confused at first. It didn't take long though and Faye got teary and my mom was totally shocked, my dad said he knew (because I had turned down wine at dinner a couple weeks ago), and Jim was confused and out of the loop! It definitely took my mom the whole weekend to warm up to the idea - she kept saying she was "in total shock." I think Faye and Jim had too much going on to think about it much after we told them. Maybe it has sunk in by now?

More about the rest of the weekend and pictures to come...

Start Spreading the News!

We had our first doctor appointment on Thursday a.m. and it went great. They did our first sonogram, where we got to see the baby's heartbeat and the baby. They said they baby was measuring closer to 8 weeks, but no one was going to argue over a couple of days and they did not change my due date. We got a lot of information and found out my insurance is awesome (pays 100% of everything and no co-pays) and scheduled our next appointment for April 30th.

Amy came over Thursday night and we met Benton's cousin, Betsy, at Fireside Pies in Grapevine for dinner. I had our sonogram picture copied and put in a picture frame for each of them, so after we ordered our food I handed one to each of them. It took them a minute for it to register, but they caught on quickly and were very excited! Of course, Amy knew. I missed a wine tasting last week and apparently that was a giveaway for her. It was a great evening - we LOVE Fireside Pies and it is always good to spend time with Amy and Betsy.

Relaxing Weekend

For the first time in months, Benton and I stayed home on Friday night with nothing to do...it was so nice! We watched Mama Mia (which we both thought was terrible), but it was a nice change to the constant on-the-go weekends that have been our norm.

We had to go get our picture taken for our church directory on Saturday and unfortunately the pictures turned out TERRIBLE! We were so disappointed, but it made the decision process of what to buy (which was none of the above) much easier.

As soon as we got home from church pictures, our friends Sharon, Brian, Michele, and Benton (Brian and Michele's adorable kiddo) came over to visit and cookout. We had a great time with them. They all live so close, but we do not get to see them very often, so it is always fun when we do. Benton is about 13 months old and so happy and precious! We had a lot of fun with him. Well, everyone except Dutch who H-A-T-E-D him. Luckily, (little) Benton thought Dutch's behviour was fun, but my Benton and I didn't see it that way. I don't know what we are going to do about Dutch, but he is going to have to shape up.

After church on Sunday, we met Brian and Amber for brunch at Toulouse, which was super yummy! Brian and Amber just got engaged about a week ago and they are so cute. Brian totally surprised Amber with an adorable proposal and absolutely gorgeous engagement ring. Again, they live so close, but we have a hard time coordinating our schedule to get to see them very often so it is always good to catch up.

We took Dutch for a long Sunday afternoon walk where, again, he acted a fool on Katy Trail. He really does need some behavior management and sooner rather than later I think.

It was another great weekend, but all good things must come to an end...
