Ima Quitter

That's me. I'm not normally a quitter, but I have officially stopped going to my Wednesday night bible study and I feel super guilty about it. I'm disappointed because I know I could have learned a lot from it if I had the time to commit to it right now. I had to miss one week because of work, then the next week for our Infant/Child CPR class at the hospital, then another week because of work. Once I got three weeks behind I was too overwhelmed and was going to have to miss another week for a Parent class at our church. I'm exhausted again just writing about it - I definitely think I bit off more than I could chew this fall. The upside is that since I quit going to the Wednesday night bible study, I have been more committed to MOPS and I love it!

Evening Showers

The evening of the luncheon shower, we had a couples shower given by three of our very best friends - Sarah, Betsy, and Eliza. These ladies outdid themselves! It poured down rain the entire night, but the shower was still absolutely perfect - so relaxed and we just got to visit with all of our sweet friends and family that were able to make it.

Me and the beautiful hostesses with the mostest!
ADORABLE and Yummy cake - perfectly matches Haven's bedding

Grandmas and us

Dad, the bartender, and Eliza

(Very pregnant) me and Benton
We can't say enough "Thank You's" to everyone who came and especially to our hostesses. It means so much to us to have so many people excited about our little girl's arrival.

Morning Showers

My mom's sweet friends gave me a baby shower luncheon on October 3rd. There is never a detail missed with these ladies; they have throwing a shower down to an art and they are good at it! The food was delicious, the decorations were adorable, and the "service" was outstanding! These ladies treat you like royalty; I felt like we should leave them a tip on the table :) I had such a wonderful time getting to visit with everyone. We got some precious things (Haven is going to be the best dressed baby in Dallas) and lots of stuff we needed.

Welcome table - Is that not the best diaper cake ever??
I was so excited for Haven to get some cowgirl things. The basket with the cowboy hat was stocked full of cowgirl goods and the rocking horse is ADORABLE - it's as lifelike as they come - it makes noise and the head and tail move.

Full bellied and ready to open the insane amount of gifts

Thank you SO much to everyone who came and spent the afternoon with me. I really enjoyed it and it meant the world to have you there.

Dr. Carter and Nurse of the Year

We had another doctor appointment on Friday and we met with Dr. Carter, the last doc in the practice that we had not yet met. He was a nice old man with not much to say, but his nurse was a talker and I loved her! She said she has been doing this for 16 years and she definitely knows what she is doing. She showed us exactly where all of Haven's body parts were - Benton felt Haven's head, heel, and cute little butt. She said I am carrying the baby low and that I "am still toned" (love her for that) which will make for an easy/short delivery (love her more for that, assuming she is right!).

Haven must have been sleepy on Friday morning because her heart rate was back down to 140. I asked the scary question of what they had as my total weight gain so far and Dr. Carter said 18 lbs, which was a pleasant surprise (apparently our scale at home is off because I thought I was up 16lbs weeks ago). I got my flu shot and we were on our way. We are back to Dr. Martin and Nurse Normal next week.

Wowza!

That was a sprint not a marathon! Clearly, I have been way behind on my blogging and with Benton out of town for the night it was a great time to catch up. The fall is by far my busiest time of year with work and it has definitely crept up and settled in. The only campus I have physically been to is SMU this year since my doc said no travel after 32 weeks (and I managed to avoid it before then), but I still have been super busy. Every year I wonder how I kept my head above water the year before.

In addition to a crazy work schedule, I started another Wednesday night bible study, MOPS, and our childbirth and care classes. It looks like it is going to be a crazy six weeks leading up to my leave from work.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

I actually really do like the rain, but I feel bad for Dutch when all he does is sleep inside all day. So, one night last week when we got a break from the rain, Benton and I took Dutch for a walk and let him go through all the puddles and mud he wanted to. We knew he was going to be nasty and need a bath, so we didn't see any reason to stop him. When we got home, the dogs next door were out in their yard and Dutch's favorite past time is to run up and down the fence and bark at them. He was already gross, but this just put the icing on the cake! We could hear him sliding and sloshing around in the mud and he was literally dripping with mud when he was done. Maybe he and Haven will be sliding in the mud together someday.

How Cute Are They?

My mom and dad brought over the cradle that my niece, Emily, and I slept in as a baby (of course Emily slept in it 19 years after me). They put it together and we let Dutch be the first to try it out. If it can hold him, it should be safe for Haven for awhile!
